BCP Certified Pedorthist

- the Board for Certification in Pedorthics (BCP) is an independent certification body that sets pedorthic standards and is itself recognized by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.

Bionic

CAD/CAM

- computer aided design/ Computer aided manufacturing

Charcot

- Charcot foot is a progressive degenerative condition that affects the joints in the feet.

Disarticulation

- limb is amputated through the joint

Doffing

- removing a prosthetic/orthotic device

Donning

- putting on a prosthetic/orthotic device

Edema

- swelling

Embolism

- occurs when an object migrates from one part of the body (through circulation) and cause(s) a blockage (occlusion) of a blood vessel in another part of the body

Femur

- thigh bone

Gait
